If your interest lies in writing magazine articles, then please allow me to share a few valuable pointers with you. First of all, remember before submitting to a magazine publisher, you must make a first and lasting impression, which can only come from a great and well researched query letter.

A query letter is what you must first pitch to an editor in getting him/her to take an interest in seeing your work further. This particular letter is an open invitation to an editor in describing who you truly are and what you have written. A well written letter is your first opportunity in getting a sale.

The query letter you submit, should be at least one page in length and written in preferably size 12 Times Roman font. It should also include the complete contact information of both you and the publisher, along with the editor's name and his/her title.

It should be address to a specific editor's name, and must include: title, a brief summary of topic, accurate word count, SASE, sample clips of published work, and a brief bio containing publishing credits and credentials if any.

In getting more practice, you can also locate sample query letters online or you can search for helpful and informative books in reference to writing. I would recommend using Writer's Market, there's a new edition that comes out each year. In closing, I hope that this information has been rather helpful as you look to further your writing endeavors.
